Chief Toke
Chief Toke lived in the vicinity of what is now Tokeland, Washington, along the Pacific coast of Washington. He was of Chinook and Chehalis stock, and spent his summers in the area of land that now bears his name. James G. Swan, a traveller in the area in 1852 or 1853, describes him as "a man of advanced years."〔Swan, James Gilchrist. The Northwest Coast, or Three Year's Residence in Washington Territory. New York, Harper, 1857; reprinted by University of Washington Press, Seattle, 1969, cited at () and ().〕 ==References==
